This video shows step-by-step instructions on how to modify the belts for the fully automatic Nerf machine gun. Sweet, right? You bet! In fact, you can string as many belts together as you like. I’d love to hear in the comments below how many belts you’ve strung together - so let me know. The cost to you will be ~$11.99 for each 25-round belt-section.

Here are the instructions:

Get a knife, a small Phillips’ head screwdriver, the Vulcan EBF-25 and spare 25-round dart belts.

The end of each belt has a blank cartridge that clips on to the end of the belt. Remove the screws holding the two sides of the cartridge together on belt #1. Repeat for belt #2.

Note that the bottom half of the cartridge has a set of four teeth on one side, and a rectangular nubbin on the other. The rectangle happens to be in the right position to stitch the belts together, and also the right width so that if you cut out the space between two of the holes on belt #2 the belt will slide over the rectangle. So cut the gap between the two middle holes on the strap for belt #2.

Slip the strap on belt #2 over the rectangular nubbin and re-attach the top of the cartridge. Screw the cartridges together.

Repeat process for each belt. I went up to 100 rounds before I ran out of birthday money.

Once you have your belt ready and loaded, you’ll have to feed the belt into the gun manually, since the belt box won’t work anymore. It is super-cute when you turn it into a crew-fired weapon with your little girls!

P.S. Thanks to Emma for the nausea-cam video footage.
P.S.S. This has to be one of the coolest birthday presents I’ve gotten in awhile. Props to Lily & Kate for finding one at Good Will for $10!
P.S.S.S. You might enjoy this video of Phoebe, age 2, shooting me with the machine gun.

In a New York Times article, Suppan said there were “a lot of distractions out there.” It was Game 4 of the 2006 World Series, and Jeff Suppan was in a controversial TV commercial speaking out against cloning during the 5th inning. This was our response.

In addition to a number of websites, it is cited in a comment on feministe.us:

“Obviously, God is a Redbirds fan who supports stem-cell research. By the way, a sign in the stands after Jeff’s MVP performance in the playoffs said “CLONE SUPPAN.” Heh.

Sorry Jeff, but if you’re going to get political during the game we will too. Luckily we won that night.
